JUST IN: HOFBURG OUT OF TRAVERS

Hofburg has been taken out of this years running of the Travers Stakes due to a fever. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. will be moved to Wonder Gadot, a very probably horse for the race. Hofburg had previously had an impressive victory in the Curlin Stakes and before that had a third in the Belmont under Justify's dominating performance.

Saratoga July 27, 2018 Analyis + Weekend Quick Pick 5 & 6

Welcome back to Saratoga Springs Racing! Sorry for the lack of analysis this week, as we prep for our second weekend at the Spa. Note: On Saturday and Sunday, instead of doing analysis, we will be giving Daily Double, Early Pick 3, Early Pick 4, Early Pick 5, and Pick 6 Predictions. Please let us know if you prefer analysis or what we call Quick Pick Analysis.
Note: We will not be analyizing Race 10.
Race 1: Race 1 is a 5 1/2 Furlong race on the Main Track. This race confuses me because most of the horses A. Have never ran, or B. Ran terrible races last time. In this race, I will take a shot on Sounds Good and The Grand Canal (2 & 2B) and pair it in a small exacta with Bankit (6). Bankit will probably be the speed in this race and will be the heavy favorite. If you want, I recommend you do either $5 to win on 2 (which also means if 2B wins, you win, meaning you basically have 2 tickets for the cost of one) or you can do $2 WPS show on 2/2B.

Race 2: Race 2 is a 1 Mile race on the Inner Turf Course. In this race, I believe Radiant Beauty (2) and Hera (7) will wear each other out, leaving one to finish 3rd or 4th. I like Night Owl (1) and Beach Waltz (6). I like them equally, but since they're both the favorites, it's up to your own judgment on which one to choose. Maybe you want to do a $1 exacta with 1 and the 6 with 7.

Race 3: Race 3 is a 6 1/2 Furlong Race on the Main Track. This race features only one-speed horse Carmine's Honor (5). For that reason, I am going to bet an exacta with Carmine's Honor and Change of Venue (6). There are other closers in the race like Change of Venue, but she has run well at 6 1/2 Furlongs. This race might be good for a trifecta if you want to pair another horse you like with 5 and 6.

Race 4: Race 4 is a 5 1/2 Furlong Race on the Mellon Turf Course. This race is full of Speed, meaning that a closer or a stalker might be a good option to bet on. In this race, I like Rappel (4) as a deep closer. She has run decently with Manuel Franco, and I think she will have a great trip with all the speed horses. The only other horse who I think has a chance is Fried Baloney (5). If you like a good longshot, you might want to bet on this stalker. One of the 4-speed horses will probably be in the money, but it's up to your own decision if you're going to do a trifecta.

Race 5: Race 5 is a 6 Furlong race on the Main Track. This race is full of stalkers and speed horses. I like It's Hot Outside (3). This horse seems to be a speed horse, like others, but this horse usually finishes well. It could possibly wire the race. I heavily like Candy Zip (11). This horse has a high price and has run great at 6 Furlongs. You might want to do an across the board bet on both 3 and 11, or do an exacta with 3-11, with just a small WPS show ticket on 11.

Race 6: Race 6 is a 1 1/16 Miles Race on the Inner Turf course. In this race, there is quite a bit of speed, with a few sprinkled in stalkers. I like Table for Six (6) and Vortex Road (7). Both are good closers and will feed of the speed horses. I think these two have a decent price, to put them in an exacta, with a small across the board bet on Table for Six (8-1 ML Odds).

Race 7: Race 7 is a 1 1/16 Mile Race on the Mellon Turf Course. This race has a few speed horses and a few stalkers. The race, in general, is a balanced race, with closers, speed, and stalkers. In this race, I like Blasted Boss (9). Blasted Boss has run well at 1 1/16 Miles, and he is running on a Kendrick Carmouche, who has been struggling lately, but I believe he can turn it around in the second weekend at Saratoga.

Race 8: Race 8 is a 1 1/8 Mile Race on the Main Track. This race has a good variety of horses, but I like Casses Story (2) at 6-1 odds. This horse has run well when Mark Casse has increased the distance and has a good combo with Jose Ortiz. This race will be a good race to play a superfecta, or trifecta if you're interested in that kind of wagering.

Race 9: Race 9 is a 1 1/8 Mile Race on the Main track. This is the 10th Running of the Curlin a $100k Graded Stakes Race. For this race, we will do individual horse analysis.
1. Hofburg is clearly the horse, with the buyers, the experience, and the good close. You would be stupid not to bet on this horse. Right??
2. Madisons Luna has a good shot as a stalker, but she has poor finishes, which won't be accepted in this race full of closers.
3. Zing Zang is a decent horse that has struggled at 1 1/8 Miles. He might surprise you, and he has a good price at ML of 8-1.
4. Nicodemus hs raced well but has raced in low-class Maiden races. I do not expect much from this horse.
5. American Lincoln is a stalker that can actually finish! American Lincoln has run well at 1 1/8 Miles, and I recommended putting American Lincoln in an exacta with the wait for it...
6. Reride is my favorite horse, because it is the only speed horse, meaning it will likely control the pace and have an easy ride. Do an exacta with American Lincoln.

Saratoga July 21 Analysis

Saratoga Springs Day 2, July 21 Analysis
Cole Wise

Welcome back to Saratoga Springs Racing! Day 1 was an exciting day, some of our picks were not as good as we thought, because we have realized how much the closers have succeeded so far in the first day of racing. Today's racing will take into account the struggling speed and stalking horse, and the trailing, closing horses. Thanks!

Note: Today we are only giving analysis up to the 8th Race! Thank you! Also, on Monday, July 23, we will not be making predictions. Same with Tuesday, July 24 (Dark Tuesday). We will do simple predictions with no analysis for Race 8-11 and Mondays Races.

Race 1: Race 1 is a 6 1/2 Furlong race on the Main Track. In this race, we will be ignoring the heavy favorite J S Bach (1 & 1A). Taking into account the closers (Horses that finish the race very well), we can predict that Helooksthepart (5) will have a good race today. Helooksthepart is a great closer and has run well with Manuel Franco. Two risks are Full Salute (3) and Bolita Boyz (6). These two horses are stalkers (meaning that they like to stalk the front horses, and try and swoop in and win the race). Since stalkers have been struggling, this might be a risky move. You might want to do a $1 exacta 5 with the 3 and 6. Meaning that if the 5 and either the 3 or 6 come in, then you hit the exacta. (If the 3 & 6 were first and second it would not be a winner).

Race 2: Race 2 is a 1 1/16 Mile race on the Inner Turf Course. This race is a Maiden race for horses who have never won a race before. These horses are two years old, meaning that they are still young and unpredictable. In this race, I like My Macho (6). My Macho ran a terrible race last time, but the excuse was that the race was very short. Now, My Macho is running in a longer race where a closer is hard to beat. I also like Digital Footprint (8). This horse is trained by Chad Brown, who is an excellent turf trainer.

Race 3: Race 3 is a 7 Furlong race on the Main Track. This race is an Optional Claiming Race, but the competition makes it look like a Grade 1 race (Grade 1 races are filled with the best horses in the world). I like Awesome Slew (3) and Behavioral Bias (5). Both are great with their jockeys and have amazing records at 7 Furlongs. Awesome Slew has been facing much tougher competition and should be facing a much easier field. I am very confident that Awesome Slew can win this race.

Race 4: Race 4 is a 1 3/16 Mile race on the Mellon Turf Course. This race unlike the previous is a terrible race. I like one horse, and that is the German horse Windjammer (7). Windjammer has a great name and has experience at these really long races. Other horses lack the experience and success that Windjammer has. Windjammer is not the favorite so you will be getting a great price when betting!

Race 5: Race 4 is a 6 Furlong race on the Main Track. This race confuses me, and I am not sure what to think of the race. I recommend you place small WPS bets on Shape Shifter (8) and Our Girl Abbey (9). Both have raced well, and have shown that they have a good experience at this distance. If you want, you can pair the two in a small exacta. This race is mainly up to your own judgment, because many of these horses have struggled, and you might find that a huge longshot, or unexpected horse to come in and win the race.

6. Race 6 is a 5 1/2 Furlong Race on the Main Track. This race is full of horses that need long distance. In this race, I like a trifecta consisting of Puttheglassdown (1), Nitrous (2), and Most Mischief (10). Nitrous and Most Mischief need a longer distance, as last race they did not have enough to close out the race. Now they are running 1 furlong more, meaning that they will have more time to close. I also like Puttheglassdown as a longshot, because her Sire Violence, has had offspring who won 21 races of their 92.

7. Race 7: Race 7 is a 1 3/8 Race on the Inner Turf Course. This race is nearly a mile long, meaning it will probably favor 1. Closers 2. A Pacecontrolling horse. In this race, I like Rocketry (8). Rocketry is an excellent closer, who likes to trail. In a Saratoga Track that so far has favored closers, I believe that Rocketry will breeze by its opponents. Like Race 3, this race is an Optional Claiming Race, but it feels like a Grade 2 or Grade 3 Race.

Race 8: Exacta Conquest Tizfire (6) with Battle Jointed (10)
Race 9: WPS bets on Somebeyay (1) and Chase Greatness (6). Trifecta 1, 2, 6.
Race 10: Exacta New Money Honey (3) and A Raving Beauty (Ger) (6)
Race 11: Trifecta with War Stroll (4), Hieroglyphics (9), and Team Colors (11).

Saratoga Springs Opening Day Race Analysis

Welcome to Saratoga Springs Racing! Here you can find a simplified version of the races for a new racing fan or someone coming to the track for a good time! Each race gives you predictions and betting advice for that day of racing!
Race's 8 & 9 will have an individual horse analysis.
Note: We do not take into account horses that are "Also Eligible" or "Entered for Main Track Only" Thank you for your compliance!

Race 1: Race 1 is a 1 1/8 Mile run around the dirt track. This race has 10 horses, with an extra horse eligible if one of the previous horses gets scratched (Taken out of the race). There are also 2 horses that are eligible if we experience rains, and they move the track to the Main Track (Dirt). In this race, I like Nobody Move (2). Nobody Move is a reliable choice with Javier Castellano (one of the strongest jockeys in Saratoga last year) and Rudy Rodriquez (a trainer that typically has strong starts to each Saratoga year. Nobody Move won her last race on a 1 1/16 Mile race, similar to the 1 1/8 M conditions today. At longer distances, she has done far better. If you want to pair her in an exacta, I recommend a pairing with Turco Bravo (4). Turco Bravo has excellent experience in the distance of 1 1/8 Miles.

Race 2: Race 2 is a 5 1/2 Furlong spring on the Melon Turf Course (The middle turf track). This race is for two-year-old horses. If you are not familiar with 2-year-olds, you might want to know that these 2-year-old fillies (Fillies are girl horses) are very unpredictable. These races you might want to look at the horses and see which seem the fittest for the race (they might have a good look, muscular, or have distinct energy). For this race, I like Drynachan (4). Drynachan is paired with Chad Brown (an excellent turf trainer) and Javier Castellano. If you want to go for an exacta, you can pair Drynachan with Bank Examiner (10).

Race 3: Race 3 is a 6 Furlong race on the Main Track (Dirt). This race is a claiming race (this means that other people can "claim" the horse for a certain price before the race starts. Some horses get claimed, and some do not get claimed). In this race, I like Sicilia Mike (4) and Fortythreeoeigh N (8). Both have great experience at 6F and have done well at a distance. I would bet 8 across the board (betting the horse to Win, Place, and Show). If you really want to, you can pair 4 and 8 in an exacta. However, I recommend jutting place a bet on the 8 horse.

Race 4: Race 4 is a 1 1/16 Mile race on the Inner Turf Course. In this race, I like Big Agenda (7). Big Agenda ran very well on 1 1/16 Mile races and has run well with Irad Ortiz Jr. (riding with Ortiz Jr. in this race). She is a well-balanced horse and will be tough to beat. If you want, you can pair her with Azzedine (6) who will be most likely the favorite. Reminder: Just because the horse is the favorite does not mean it will always win. You can earn more money if you do not bet on the favorite! Usually, there are better horses than the favorite.

Race 5: Race 5 is a 5 1/2 Furlong Sprint on the Main Track. This race is a Maiden Race (A race for horses that have never won a race before) This race is for 2-year-old Maidens, meaning that they will be unpredictable. This race is hard since most of these horses have never run before. I am taking a chance on the 9 horse, Mertz. She has run well on these short distances and ran a good race with Irad Ortiz Jr. who is running her today. This race is mainly up to your own judgment since there are not many reliable choices in Race 5.

Race 6: Race 6 is a 6 1/2 Furlong race on the Main Track. This race is exciting to me, and I believe that Hay Field (3) will wire this race easily (wire means that the horse will dominate his/her's opponents easily, and win the race). I do not believe that you should bet on any other horses in this race. If you are interested in putting a higher bet than usual, I recommend you bet on this race. A good bet would be a five dollar win bet on Hay Field.

Race 7: Race 7 is a 1 1/16 Mile race on the Inner Turf Course. In this race, I like Sweet August Lady (3) and Pauseforthecause (10). Sweet August Lady is a good closer (meaning she finishes the race very well), and Pauseforthecause is a speed horse (meaning she will want to get out of the gate quick and get moving). An interesting bet is an exacta with 3-10. If you want you can box this race, meaning that the order of 3 & 10 do not matter, as long as they come in 1 & 2.

Race 8: Race 8 is the Grade 3 Schuylerville, 6 Furlongs on the Main Track. This race, we will do individual analysis on each horse.
1. Catherinethegreat had an excellent race last time, winning by 10 furlongs, and she might be the favorite for this race.
2. Nonna Madeline had a good race winning with Joe Bravo. Today, she has an excellent jacket-trainer combination to boast.
3. Congrats Gal had a decent win last time but had a relatively poor buyer of 54. A good risk, as she will most likely have a hefty price (meaning she has odds that will pay more money)
4. Fightress is a speed horse that will put pressure on the leaders. She might struggle since her last race must far shorter.
5. Lonely Road is an ok horse that you could take a chance on at a reasonable price. It might contend in a trifecta or a superfecta.
6. Tapping Pearl is my favorite horse, who had a great run last time, controlling the pace. By the way, she ran this race in the same conditions!
7. Sergenti Empress is a decent horse that could be 2nd or 3rd. She has a good trainer and a decent pace. She has no experience at 6 Furlongs.
8. Eyeinthesky will most likely struggle in this race due to a lack of experience at 6 Furlongs.
9. Lady Apple is a decent horse that could finish 2nd or 3rd. Had a great combination with Irad Ortiz Jr. who is running on her today.
10. Blame the Frog may have a great name, but it has raced in low-class races (meaning it had much easier competition).

Race 9: Race 9 is the Grade 3 Lake George, at 1 1/16 Miles on the Mellon Turf Course. Like last race, we will do individual horse analysis on each horse. Note: I do not include Nootka Sound (4) in my analysis since it is entered for Main Track Only.
1. Punked is an Ireland horse trainer by Chad Brown, an excellent turf trainer. This horse is doing very well at 1 1/16 mile races and will definitely be a contender. Punked is my pick.
2. Going Out is a decent horse. If you are looking for a good longshot, I recommend you pick Going Out.
3. Daddy Is a Legend is a horse I believe is an underlay, and will be overbet. Daddy Is a Legend does not impress me, and it has appeared to struggle in these higher class races.
5. Goodthingstaketime is an Irish horse trained by Jorge Abreu. He might have a chance to be in a trifecta, but do not expect much because of his inability to truly finish a race.
6. Andina Del Sur is a horse that has been struggling and has had her two worst races at lengths of 1 1/16 Miles.
7. Altea is a French horse trained by Chad Brown. She has raced poorly at 1 1/16 Miles, and she has struggled recently. She might, however, be able to turn things around in the Lake George.
8. Heavenly Love is trained by Mark Casse but has not been able to win a race since around a year ago. Her long "win-layoff" might hurt her chances today.

Race 10: Race 10 is a strange race, as all of these horses seem to have struggled recently. I am going to chance on Double Deep (9) and bet against the apparent favorite Prognostication (12) trained by Chad Brown. I think Double Deep will succeed because of its trainer Rudy Rodriquez who typically has great opening days at Saratoga compared to Chad Brown. You might want to pair the two in an exacta box 9-12.

Note: Please bet responsibly and only bet if you are over 18 years of age.
